15) .us domains require registrants to be United States citizens, residents, or organizations, or a foreign entity with a presence in the United States.

Should GreenGeeks’ network or hardware infrastructure face any form of downtime, customers will be compensated for the downtime at a rate based on their hosting rate. In the event of unscheduled or emergency maintenance, GreenGeeks will compensate at 3x the hosting rate (outage windows rounded to the nearest hour).

Unscheduled or emergency maintenance: 3x rate.

Compensation Examples

1. Scenario #1:
   – Monthly Shared EcoSite Starter Customer ($9.95/month)
   – Unscheduled maintenance lasting 1.5 hours total compensation: $0.08
   Calculations:
   • Determine daily rate: $9.95 / 30.42 (Standard Average Days per Month) = $0.327 Day
   • Determine hourly rate: $0.327 / 24 (standard hours per day) = $0.0136
   • Determine compensation rate: $0.0136 * 2 (rounded to nearest hour) * 3 (compensation rate)  = $0.08
2.  Scenario #2:
   – Monthly reseller seed customer ($19.95/month)
   – Scheduled maintenance lasting 6 hours total compensation: $0.16
   Calculations:
   • Determine daily rate: $19.95 / 30.42 (standard average days per month) = $0.655 day
   • Determine hourly rate: $0.655 / 24 (standard hours per day) = $0.0273
   • Determine compensation rate: $0.0273 * 6 (rounded to nearest hour) * 1 (compensation rate) = $0.16

Compensation Exclusions

1. GreenGeeks SLA compensations only apply to service outages monitored and confirmed by GreenGeeks. Third-Party monitoring tools are not acceptable proof of outage.
2. Credits are eligible by request for seven days after the confirmed resolution of an outage.
3. VPS and Dedicated Servers are excluded from the above compensation policy except for upstream/networking outages.
4. Outages caused by resource abuse (exceeding set resources), malware infections, or suspensions are excluded from the above compensation policy.
5. Extended Outages resulting from the use of third-party DNS Services are excluded from the above compensation policy.
6. Accounts disabled because of an abuse of the system, including malware infections or developing and promoting phishing content, is excluded from the above compensation policy.

Your obligations:

• Know your account renewal date. We send an email before your renewal date to let you know that your account is coming up for renewal. You can also see the due date in GreenGeeks (My Services > My Hosting Services > Next Due Date).
• Make sure we always have a valid email address. Should your email address change, it can be updated any time in GreenGeeks (Hello, [your name] > Edit Profile > Email Address).
• Make sure you can receive email from us. If possible, whitelist the greengeeks.com domain name in your email program so you never miss an important message about your account.

To Prevent Automatic Account Renewal

If you intend to cancel your account or stop the renewal of the account, you must submit a cancellation request form seven (7) business days before the account renewal date.

• Ensure we receive the cancellation request. You should receive an email receipt of your request. If you do not receive an email receipt of your request, please contact us.
• When we have reviewed your cancellation request, we will send you an email asking you to confirm the cancellation. You must confirm the cancellation request by replying to the cancelation confirmation email (do not alter the subject line of the email). Your cancellation request confirmation must be received by GreenGeeks at least five (5) business days before the renewal date.
• Make sure all of the information in the cancellation request matches the information we have on file, including your name, primary domain, and email address. CANCELLATION REQUESTS RECEIVED FROM AN EMAIL ADDRESS OTHER THAN THE EMAIL ADDRESS ON THE ACCOUNT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

If you fail to submit and confirm the cancellation request form as outlined above, we cannot guarantee that your credit card or PayPal account will not be charged.

If you submit the cancellation request form before the renewal date, but less than seven (7) business days before the renewal date or confirm the cancellation request before the renewal date but less than five (5) business days before the renewal date resulting in your credit card or PayPal account being automatically charged, we will issue a refund. However, if a domain name automatically renews as the result of a cancellation request being made less than seven (7) business days before the renewal date, or a cancelation confirmation being made less than five (5) business days before the renewal date, the cost of the domain renewal will be deducted from any refund. We will send instructions for continuing the use the domain name after your cancellation request has been processed.

The 30-day money back guarantee applies only to the start date (sign up date) of your service and does not apply to service renewals.  Day one is the day the account was opened (sign up date), day two is the following day, etc. GreenGeeks does not issue refunds for cancellations that take place after the 30 day trial period has ended.

GreenGeeks understands that sometimes circumstances beyond your control can result in the need for a couple of extra days to make a payment. If you find yourself in that situation, contact our billing department before the due date and we will work with you to avoid service interruptions and late fees.

If an account was suspended due to an overdue invoice, once the overdue invoice is paid in full, the account will be reactivated within 15 minutes of us receiving the payment. It is your responsibility, however, to verify that the account has been reactivated and to notify us in the rare case that the account remains suspended.

Due to the continued rise in domain registration costs, effective October 31st, 2016, GreenGeeks no longer provides a Free Domain Name for Life.

Domains will be included for the first year at no additional cost where advertised. Subsequent years will renew at the regular rate for the specific domain extension.

Customers who purchased before October 31st, 2016 will be transitioned to the new pricing structure at the time of their hosting contract renewal.
