How to Create a Featured Image Column in WordPress

Are you looking for a way to create a featured image column in WordPress? WordPress uses featured images as part of the thumbnail for your post content. It only uses a part of the featured image because it crops it down to the thumbnail size. Unfortunately, there is no place in WordPress that you can view each post’s featured image.

It would be extremely convenient to view the featured image of every post on your website and that is exactly what this tutorial is about. You can create a featured image column for your edit post’s page. Today, I will demonstrate how to create a featured image column in WordPress using the Featured Image Column plugin.

Why Add a Featured Image Column in WordPress

Featured images are important for every post you create. They are usually the first image in a post and are used to create thumbnails and thumbnails are used as an attention grabber. Having a really good thumbnail can have a huge effect on how popular your content is.

This is especially true when you regularly share your content on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. When scrolling down a social media page there are tons of things you can click on. Having a catchy thumbnail helps you stand out on crowded pages and attract more visitors.

You may say, I understand why featured images are important, but that still doesn’t explain why I need a column dedicated to them. Normally you need to go inside the post to see the featured image. Having a dedicated column eliminates the time it takes to get there. You can view every single featured image on one page. It saves you a lot of time and it is very simple to implement.
